Tenhama railway flower relay project

The flowers and trees planted at the 20 stations and along the 67.7 km-long Tenryu Hamanako Railway (commonly known as the Tenhama Line) change color with the seasons. To ensure that visitors enjoy the garden, the local people take great care in maintaining the plants.

The Tenryu Hamanako Railway has many important cultural assets such as turntable, fan-shaped garage, and station building, which are valuable nationwide, and will envelop visitors in a nostalgic atmosphere.
In the “Relay of Flowers” project, we have staged the scenery to be rich in a sense of the seasons, valuing the original landscape of Japan.
Visitors can enjoy the harmony of the scenery seen from the railroad line with flowers and trees that change their colors each season, such as snow willows in early spring, cherry blossoms and daffodils in spring, rape blossoms, poppies, and hydrangeas during the rainy season.
The “Tenryu Futamata Station Perennial Garden,” the symbol of this project, will be filled with seasonal flowers, mainly perennial grasses.
